Serifos Beaches

The magical island with 72 crystal clear beaches. Psili Ammos, a small beach white sand beach with turquoise waters has been voted Best Beach in Europe in 2004 and 2009.
Some beaches are easy accessable, either with a car, bus, bike or walking. Others, more secluded beaches are reachable by hiking or with a boat. At high season (July and August and summer weekends) many beaches get crowded.
You will find a wide selection of sandy, rocky beaches, with pebbles, caves, deep water, shallow water, tamarisks, umbrellas, beach bars,taverns or nudist beaches, pure nature and no shade...

A G I O S. S O S T I S
The beach is named after the popular church Agios Sostis which has it’s annual celebration September 7th.
Park your car or bike up at the hill, it’s only a few minutes walk down to the beautiful bay. The water is amazingly clear with big pebbles inside. if you come early you might be lucky to find a place in the shade under the tamarisk trees.

A V L O M O N A (Livadi harbor)
Avlomona beach (at Livadi) is just 10 minutes walking distance from the port towards East. The long sandy beach is is famous for its crystal clear and clean water. It is surrounded by a lush green area with trees that provide shade and quite popular by locals and frequented by families. Along the beach road with hotels & rooms, you will find restaurants, taverns and beach bars (highly convenient to have a break from swimming and sun tanning.)

G A N E M A
Ganema is by far one of the best beaches of the island. Amazing crystal clear waters with fine sand and pebbles. The beach is lined with tamarisk trees providing comfortable shade from the sun, when it gets more crowded the trees get occupied quickly and you need your own umbrella. Nearby (Koutalas/Ganema/Vagia bay) you can find a couple of places to enjoy a cold drink or nice meal without moving far from the area. This beach is also very popular for sailing boats docking in the bay’s calm waters.

K A L O. A M B E L I
To get to Kalo Ambeli beach you have to park at the road and then walk down passing by Sotiras church. The walk takes about 20 minutes.
This wonderful secluded pristine beach has fine sand and washed-away rocks with a Caribbean-like turquoise sea. If you love nature and enjoy walking, this is the perfect beach for you!

K O U T A L A S
Koutalas is a small village on the southwestern side of the island. Its long sandy beach has a pebbly wpart very end, just before you walk up to the Agia Irene church. It is only of the most tranquil beaches on the island and has a kind of 70s-flair. There are plenty of trees along the beachside which give good shade.

L I A
A small beautiful beach is a relaxing, quiet and secluded and well known for nudism. The beach is not directly connected to the main road, so you need to park your car and continue by foot approx. 10 minutes. Water and a snack would be good to take with you since there are no facilities nearby.

L I V A D A K I A
Livadakia is a nice sand beach, walking distance from the port, with a lot of shade and a beach bar. Livadi and Livadaki are neighboring beaches, hotels, the island’s camping, taverns and some shops are nearby. It is an ideal beach if you don’t want to move to far away from the port and have all facilities close to you.

M E G A. L I V A D I
At one of the most historical spots of the island, you find the calm beach of Mega Livadi (also Megalo Livadi). Trees along the coast give plenty of shade and whilst you relax or swim, you have an impressive view of the old loading bridge and mines. Tamarisk trees provide plenty of shade along the beach and its amazing clear and shallow water is ideal for families with children. The beach is right next to the old mining headquarters and remains of Serifos’ mining history along the bay. Take a walk and explore!

P L A T I S. G I A L O S
After a coming down a small winding street within a beautiful landscape, you will arrive at a secluded sandy beach, divided into two small sandy bays. The water is crystal clear, just like a swimming pool. On the left side of the beach upon a small hill is a tavern with local food, ideal to have a break from sun tanning and bathing. On your way back, don’t miss the monastery of Taxiarchon and/or the villages Kentarchos, Galani or Panagia nearby!

P S I L I. A M M O S

Psili Ammos (Greek: soft fine sand) is one of the most popular beaches of Serifos! It is an ideal family beach with a tamarisk tree-lined shore providing great shade. Two nice taverns provide a good variety of meals and drinks. The shallow crystal clear waters turn into high waves when it's windy. Its fine white sand, magnificent turquoise waters are incredible! This beach turns into an exotic spot when it is windy and waves get high.

S Y K A M I A
The most northern beach of Serifos. On hot summer days, when there is southwind, can van stay cool here under the trees. With northern winds waves are often high. The beach is sandy and pebbly and has a great view on the opposite island Kithnos - with clear weather even further to other surrounding islands. Next to the beach is a tavern with vegetables and fruits of their own garden. The nearby small historical village Galani is also also worth a visit.

V A G I A
Vagia is a long, sandy and pebbly beach with crystal clear waters of deep emerald color. The steep cliffs around form a protected aquatic haven! Vagia is included in the “NATURA 2000” program as a protected area. There is a canteen with refreshments and snacks which also brings your order to the beach. Right at the beach are a few umbrellas and the nearby hotel owns a cafeteria/bar.
